Event Details

The main theme of this program is to observe a wide variety of birds by visiting several habitats. The pace will be less frantic than other big day birding tours so there will be more time to focus on bird identification by sight, sound, and behavior. The trip will start in Lee Vining and the Mono Lake area visiting sagebrush habitat and lakeshore and travel north to Virginia Lakes for high elevation species like Gray-crowned Rosy-finch and Bridgeport Valley to search for waterfowl and Pinyon Jays. Please bring hand-held radios for communication between vehicles if you have them. We will be out all day so be sure to bring lunch, water, sunscreen, and extra layers.
