424 *Sky watching for our changing weather patterns
In this colorful wild weather program, we will fly across California and into the Basin and Range during each season, following the changing weather patterns and climates that nurture and challenge our ecosystems and bird populations and shape our landscapes. Whether it’s droughts or atmospheric rivers, heat waves, cold snaps, or relentless winds, winter snow or summer thunder, weather whiplash seems more dramatic on this side of the Sierra Nevada. But what causes these weather extremes, why does the sky dome constantly demand our attention, and how can we anticipate changes that can enhance or spoil our birding experiences? How might these changes impact our plant communities, wildlife, and landscapes? The cloud formations and weather elements are calling out to us in this everything you wanted to know about the weather session.
